I started February 17th of 2009 when I was 16. I was ass, and then after re-doing Mixtape Messiah 4, I finally started to get better. I would say that I was gradually improving all the way up until All Eyez on Me when I hit my peak at that time. That purple tape was amazing as hell, and I wish I fought harder to keep it before I went on Hiatus in 2010. I'm back now, and seeking to be an even better DJ than when I retired at 17
After doing some recent events, I found that I may need to branch out a little more to sounds that other people enjoy. If my purpose in doing this is to spread Screw's legacy, that can only go so far if I only do songs I tend to enjoy or albums I've enjoyed in the past. That was what drove a lot of my tape choices along with requests from my peers and followers.
Only Time sounded so dope to me, so I chopped it up. And I found out recently it is one of Gucci's most recent hit songs. Glad he's still able to chart, big ups to his grind fr fr. I'll happily chop this project as a way of adopting a new attitude to artist selections.
My new journey will be expansive. I'm going to be touching more rock music, more bop hip-hop, more lyrical artists, and even some house mixes. I hope you guys join me on the next leg of my chopped & screw journey. RIP DJ Screw. Tracklist will be ready once I get the blend order down.
This will be a new tape! Stillmatic has always been one of my favorite Nas albums. This one, and It Was Written are probably my top albums by Nas. King's Disease II is up there as well.
Stay tuned everyone, this one will be a double release with Street's Disciple (Chopped & Throwed Redux). Tracklist will come once I have determined the blend order for the tape. Just like with Street's Disciple; there is room for both chop-heavy and throwed-only songs...so I will incorporate both and only do one version. One love.

Neither tape has re-used tracks. For the CD1 Redux, I kept White America and My Dad's Gone Crazy on
the mix because I liked the way those sounded purely. The other songs I did not, so I redid them. This
will be the approach I take for any Redux tapes that have preserved tracks.
Marshall Mathers LP will be done sometime later. That project was choppy when I first did it, but now I
am considering a mainly throwed version of that Redux. It will not be a double release like this. Thanks.

Full Mixes Update: Unfortunately, since 2001 was taken down due to multiple copyright claims in the same video...I will not be uploading full mixes to YouTube until I can get licensure clearance for each of the mixes. So going forward until that happens, I will just upload most of the tracks as separate videos over time. For some projects (like this one), I will eventually upload all tracks and put them on a playlist...but for now I think it would be best to space it out to prevent my channel from falling victim to closure due to infringements.

History of Purple Tape (10/19/25): This one was primarily inspired by some fans from Datpiff. By the time I had started this project, I had already done 26 full purple tapes prior to touching this one, with Marshall Mathers LP being the album I did prior. I will say that just about every one of those tapes were chop-heavy in the sense of scratches, and the old version of this tape was not too different. There were a few standouts which I did publish to YouTube back then...but most of the other tape I avoided uploading because YouTube was a lot stricter with songs back then. To this day, 25 to Life by Eminem is still blocked on my channel...and that was a throwed-only song (no scratches at all, just like You're Never Over).
Not only did I want to do this for those awesome people from Datpiff who enjoyed my old tape, but also to show some sort of growth in the last month that I've came back to the scene. It took me almost a year to make the sound that I am even showing today...and I did that when I was 16. My little brother also inspired me since he was very special to me and enjoyed this album. May his soul rest in power with DJ Screw and our other fallen soldiers. Feel free to give the tape a listen on YT below, or download it by scrolling to the bottom of the post.
Mixed Version Update, 11/4/25: It looks like my mixed Chopped & Screwed Dr. Dre 2001 CD is unblocked again. Maybe further review was conducted and they didn't find any problems with having it shown. I will re-post it here. As far as future releases, I'm honestly not sure how to navigate it at this time. I may still record the mixed videos and just hold them until I get paperwork to let them be streamed/played without issues. That process takes 2 - 4 weeks so I would have to decide ahead of time which projects I will undergo that process with and budget accordingly.

History of Purple Track: DJ Devinstation (Purpleand) and I formed Throwed Assassins together. That was going to be our power duo title as me and him had such dynamic chop styles but we complimented each other pretty well. You all know me for being a chop-heavy DJ...well he and Chops-A-Lot blow me out the water when it comes to the amount of chops they put in a song that still sound good. It's easy to slop a song up with too many chops....but it takes real skill to be able to chop the hell out of a song and it not sound like a mess.
Due to me going into hiatus when I did, I believe DJ Purpleland kept going for a little while before eventually going about his way. Hopefully the homie sees the posts I'm making so we can link back up. I'm sure we will have plenty of H-Town projects to collab on. Anyway, enjoy this 2010 track everyone! DL link is available as well if you're not able to listen to this track in your region.
My induction track into Purple Tape Recordz in June of 2010. Do expect me to come back to this project in the future. I can't touch it right now because I know in my soul I would not be able to chop up Can't C Me like the way I did it on this original mixtape. I was on another level with this. Stay tuned, I won't let the gems on this album go unheard.
Update from Howie (9/30/25): Here's the first tape I did on my return, The Owner's Manual. Shoutout to the Purple Tape Recordz DJs still chopping it up out there. I may not be like I was in my 17-y.o. prime, but it won't take me long at all to surpass myself. It'll be a fun challenge. For now, enjoy the more laid back version of my chops as I get myself back into the rhythm of things. It has been 15 years since I last did this...and I still enjoy doing blends! Track 3 and 4 are blended beats.
Status Update, 11/1/25: I'll be honest guys, Table of Contents is not chopped the best. I may go back and do that one over but it'll be at a point if I decide to blend this tape. For now, I will leave as is. Sorry for that, this is literally the first tape I did after 15-year hiatus. I was bound to have a mistake somewhere lmao.

Update from Howie (9/30/25): I'm back y'all! This wasn't the first project I did, but it already became one of my favorites and I wasn't even using cuts all that much like I did in my 2010 works. Enjoy! I'll be re-working on some of my older tapes that got lost in the wind due to Datpiff closure and zshare getting ether-ed off the Earth. This tape sounds decent but I used the crossfader too much if I'm being honest. And some of my scratches sound forced and not smooth with the track. Again, just want to preface that this is the 2nd tape I did after coming back from 15-year hiatus.
